I’d seen professionals before Andrew. Enough of them to come in with low expectations and a well-practiced way of deftly dancing around the raw truths that haunted me but had proven too big to risk voicing again.
By my third or fourth meeting with him I came in carrying something I had never said out loud. A fear I had lived under for years: that I was, at my core, a dangerous person. I asked him, “What if I am this person?”
He said, “What if you are?”
It wasn’t the question itself. It was how it was asked. No judgment, no sarcasm, no platitude, no flinch. Just a genuine steadiness and care that said: yes or no, you are safe here and we can talk about this.
It changed my life. I have no doubt everyone who sits with him experiences the same.
